Poem: You’ve Dug Yourself a Lonely Hole

I’ll weep for your mistakes

Like I’m the one that made them

I’ll cry with you on the other line

Try and solve your situation

But how long can I weep

How long can I see this through

I don’t want you to be alone

But I don’t want to suffer too

I’m watching you dig yourself a hole

I’ll stay as long as I can

But I know there will be a time

When will it drag me in

You’ve dug yourself a lonely hole

With dirt that’s cold and stiff

It breaks my heart to see you trapped

But I can’t follow you in

Only Jesus Christ can truly take others’ burdens and save those who need relief. Support, love, and comfort, but don’t take on the jobs only He can do perfectly.

“..Mourn with those that bmourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort..” (Mosiah 18:9).
